Chapter 21

Faith in Faith
Moving ahead without knowing what the Lord has said about that move is rebellion and presumption. Many times that is what we do. We are not sure -- so we do it just because the opportunity presents itself and then -- we say we are doing it by faith. We are not doing it by faith in what God has said; We are doing it because we want to do it and then -- we call it faith.
It’s really faith in my ability to guess about what to do.
(John 8:56 KJV) Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Abraham lived in Jesus’ Kingdom by faith in what God told him. That is important to take note of concerning faith. We are to have faith in what the Lord has said. We are not to go ahead without knowing what God has said and call it living by faith. That is faith in faith and that never works.
On the other hand -- living by inheritance causes me to walk on water -- multiply bread -- have victory over the enemy -- cast out Devils etc. I’m a new person hearing from the Lord as my guide and director. I’m not an old person trying to guess what I should do.
I have noticed that many people live by guessing what they should do and then -- asking the Lord to bless their choice. That is self-rule in action. Most of the time -- these people have no authority in their lives that they consult before they act. They don’t like order and authority and so -- avoid talking to someone about what they are going to do before they do it. It is really rebellion living under the guise of submission to authority.
